  • Medical Ethics: Subject, Function, and Trends:A Comparative Study of Medical Ethics in Chinese and English Bibliometric

Objective Based on evidence-based medicine systematic research and literature analysis methods, to make a quantitative and qualitative analysis on Chinese and No-Chinese literatures with subject of Medical Ethics. Concise and analyze the law and trends of subject development, to provide baseline data and decision-making reference for the relevant decision-making and follow-up study. Method We analyzed keywords in medical ethics articles in PubMed and CNKI database, and developed subject charts, research field relationship charts, and strategy coordination charts using word co-occurrence, PFNET algorithms, and visualization methods. Result Literatures collected from PubMed is six times than that from CNKI. Medical ethics research in China, starting later than abroad almost 35 years, is still at the preliminary stage of development. Eight matured research fields are formed as Morals, Ethical review, Physician-Patient relations, clinical trial, euthanasia, medical ethics education, clinical ethics, and health policy outside of China. Comparatively, in China there are only five fields are developed such as Morals, Physician-Patient relations, medical ethics education, bioethics, and medical research. Conclusion Foreign countries more focus on how to employ medical ethics to solve new problems occurred in clinics and medical research, with morals, ethical review, and Physician-Patient relations as the center of research net. Researchers in China pay more attentions on morals and education with morals as the only research net center. So an urgent need is called to make a transition from simply moral research into applied research stressing on both moral education and ethic review.

  • Visualization Studies on Evidence-Based Medicine Domain Knowledge (Series 1): Mapping of Evidence-Based Medicine Research Subjects△

Objective To use visualization methods to illustrate and compare major subjects, domains, and developments in evidence-based medicine (EBM) in recent years. Methods We analyzed MeSH terms and keywords in EBM articles in the MEDLINE and CNKI databases, and developed subject charts, research field relationship charts, and strategy coordination charts using word co-occurrence, PFNET algorithms, and visualization methods. Results Rapid developments and growth are taking place in EBM in China and around the world. Studies on humans comprised 94.4% of the EBM studies that we identified, while animal studies accounted for 2.6% (three quarters of these animal studies were on primates). The six countries with the largest number of EBM articles and the eight host nations for the 108 journals with the most EBM publications were from high-income countries. In China, 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions have published EBM articles, although most of these publications come from the more highly-developed areas of the country. The investigation of word co-occurrence showed that EBM articles outside of China involve seven main fields: “Therapy”, “Methods”, “Standards”, “Research”, “Education”, ”Nursing” and “Organization and Administration”. Five of these fields (“Therapy”, “Nursing”, “Research”, “Education” and “Management”) were common to China but the top seven fields for this country included “Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)” and “Information resources”; and did not include “Methods” and “Standards”. Furthermore, studies on “Nursing” and “Research” were not as advanced in China as in other countries. Conclusion There are similarities between China and the rest of the world in several areas in the EBM literature but also some important differences. Throughout the world, the most resource-rich regions or organizations tend to have the most well-developed EBM. These regions and organizations are producing more evidence and conducting more methodology research than the less resourced regions and organizations. There is an urgent need for these regions and organizations to strengthen their use of evidence, to learn more about the philosophy that underpins EBM, and to improve accessibility to, and use of, evidence in choices about health care.

  • Visualization Studies of Evidence-based Cardiovascular Medicine Based on Co-word Analysis

【Abstract】 Objective To research on the hot issues, branch system and development trend of evidence-based cardiovascular medicine in and out of china by using co-word analysis of keywords and authors. Methods By Searching the CBM database in Chinese and Medline database in English, we collected the related articles and picked out the frequency of keywords, authors and core administrations, and built the matrix of keywords and authors. Finally we completed the visualized network by Ucinet. Results We successfully obtained the visualization of this subject. Chinese network contained three parts: evidence-based medicine, therapy and nursing, while English network also contained three parts: evidence-based medicine, therapy and treatment outcome. In the authors′ visualized network, Chinese authors had less cooperation and looser relationship compared with their counterparts overseas. The core administrations in china located in outstanding universities, and developed countries had the dominated roles in the world. Conclusions The development trend of evidence-based cardiovascular medicine in china is good, but still has some limitations compared with overseas studies. More emphasis should be put on strengthening core-area researching and research plan adjustment.

  • Research on the application of evidence-based education concepts and practice in China

ObjectivesTo survey the domestic research situation of evidence-based education through visual studies. To summarize the utilization of education evidence in China and promote the process of evidence-based practice concepts and methods application in social science fields, so as to facilitate the domestic evidence-based research towards more scientific and practical. Methods WanFang Data and CNKI databases were searched to collect evidence-based education literatures from inception to December, 2017. Tableau and UCINET software were used to conduct visual and co-word analysis of study types, regions, staff, time, foundation/government support and key words. The social evidence based research situation was sketched. Results A total of 54 literatures were included. Beijing and Guangdong province published the most literatures, followed by Zhejiang province and Tianjin municipality. The quantity of literatures published in 2014 reached the peak of 11 articles, followed by 2016 and 2017, and relatively few in remaining years. We found that " evidence-based pedagogy” owned the highest frequency through building core keywords matrix. Conclusions Evidence-based education in China is still at an early stage. Introduction and promotion is currently the main content. There exists problems remaining in the development of evidence-based education, for instance disjointedness of theory and practice, regional unbalance, and deficiency of original-research. It is still a long way to go.

  • Study on diagnosis and treatment of Budd-Chiari syndrome in China based on CO-word analysis

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to apply the method of CO-word analysis to the evidence-based study of the diagnosis and treatment of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS), to understand the trend of BCS research in China and to explore the hot spots of BCS in recent years, and to provide new evidence-based data for the clinical practice and experimental research of BCS in China.MethodsIn the Wanfang database, CNKI, and VIP retrieval platform, " Budd-Chiari syndrome” was used as the key word or title. According to the publication time, it was divided into before 1998 (study group 1), 1999–2008 (study group 2), and 2009–2018 years (study group 3). The relationship matrix was established by using the Netdraw tool in Ucinet6.0, and the common words were plotted with the Netdraw tool. The word relation network was used to get the analysis chart of the relation of the word.ResultsThis study found that, Budd-Chiari syndrome, inferior vena cava, hepatic vein, inferior vena cava obstruction, and syndrome were the most frequently used keywords in the study group 1. Budd-Chiari syndrome, inferior vena cava, hepatic venous, interventional therapy, and patients were the most frequent keywords in the study group 2. In the study group 3, Budd-Chiari syndrome, interventional therapy, inferior vena cava, hepatic vein, and patient were the most frequent keywords.ConclusionsHepatic vein type and inferior vena cava type have became a research hotspot in recent years, and the thrombosis mechanism is one of the directions for domestic scholars to study the etiology of BCS. The diagnosis and classification of BCS depend on color doppler ultrasound technology. Many studies focus on the differential diagnosis of BCS and cirrhosis.
