  • Application of hemodynamic optimization in the design of artificial heart

Heart failure is one kind of cardiovascular disease with high risk and high incidence. As an effective treatment of heart failure, artificial heart is gradually used in clinical treatment. Blood compatibility is an important parameter or index of artificial heart, and how to evaluate it through hemodynamic design and in vitro hemolysis test is a research hotspot in the industry. This paper first reviews the research progress in hemodynamic optimization and in vitro hemolysis evaluation of artificial heart, and then introduces the research achievements and progress of the team in related fields. The hemodynamic performance of the blood pump optimized in this paper can meet the needs of use. The normalized index of hemolysis obtained by in standard vitro hemolysis test is less than 0.1 g/100 L, which has good hemolysis performance in vitro. The optimization method described in this paper is suitable for most of the development of blood pump and can provide reference for related research work.

  • Research on classification of benign and malignant lung nodules based on three-dimensional multi-view squeeze-and-excitation convolutional neural network

Lung cancer is the most threatening tumor disease to human health. Early detection is crucial to improve the survival rate and recovery rate of lung cancer patients. Existing methods use the two-dimensional multi-view framework to learn lung nodules features and simply integrate multi-view features to achieve the classification of benign and malignant lung nodules. However, these methods suffer from the problems of not capturing the spatial features effectively and ignoring the variability of multi-views. Therefore, this paper proposes a three-dimensional (3D) multi-view convolutional neural network (MVCNN) framework. To further solve the problem of different views in the multi-view model, a 3D multi-view squeeze-and-excitation convolution neural network (MVSECNN) model is constructed by introducing the squeeze-and-excitation (SE) module in the feature fusion stage. Finally, statistical methods are used to analyze model predictions and doctor annotations. In the independent test set, the classification accuracy and sensitivity of the model were 96.04% and 98.59% respectively, which were higher than other state-of-the-art methods. The consistency score between the predictions of the model and the pathological diagnosis results was 0.948, which is significantly higher than that between the doctor annotations and the pathological diagnosis results. The methods presented in this paper can effectively learn the spatial heterogeneity of lung nodules and solve the problem of multi-view differences. At the same time, the classification of benign and malignant lung nodules can be achieved, which is of great significance for assisting doctors in clinical diagnosis.

  • Impact of family nursing intervention on the quality of life in postoperative patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia

ObjectiesTo investigate the impact of family nursing intervention on the quality of life in postoperative patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). MethodsIn total, 60 consecutive patients who underwent BPH surgeries between December 2012 and January 2014 were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive either timely outpatient follow-ups and routine rechecks (control group) or nursing intervention of telephone call follow-ups and family visits by professional nurses (intervention group). Quality of life was assessed by international prostate symptom score (IPSS) and generic quality of life inventory-74 (GQOLI-74), and was compared before and after intervention between the two groups. ResultsThere were no statistically significant differences in GQOLI-74 scores of all dimensions at discharge between the intervention group and the control group (P>0.05). However, six months after discharge, GQOLI-74 scores of all dimensions were significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05), and were also significantly different from the scores at discharge in both groups (P<0.05). At discharge, IPSS scores were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05). Six months after discharge, IPSS scores of the intervention group (6.33±1.03) and the control group (7.83±0.94) were significantly different (P<0.05), and were also significantly different from the scores at discharge in the intervention group (7.93±1.31) and the control group (8.10±1.06) (P<0.05). Three patients in the control group (10.0%) were admitted into the hospital again due to bleeding, while there was no bleeding case in the intervention group. No such complications as urethrostenosis or urinary incontinence occurred in both groups. Conclusion Family nursing intervention improves effectively the quality of life in postoperative patients after surgeries for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
