Objective To investigate the correlation between the plasma endothelin (ET) and gastric mucosal pathology.MethodsIn this experiment, seven dogs who experienced common bileduct ligation were in experiment group, the other three dogs who underwent shamoperation were control group. By using specific radio immunological method, the plasma ET levels were determined in dogs before and after 1,4,7 d. The total bilirubin levels were determined before and after 1,4,7 d after operation by using carbazotic acid method. The gastric mucosa,7 d after operation, was cut into slices and was examined under the electron microscope and the light microscope. Results In the experiment group, the levels of ET and total bilirubin rose continually and were higher than those in control group. Vascular congestion and oedema were seen in gastric mucosa of common bileduct ligated dogs. Under the electron microscope, we could see the dilated blood capillary and sludging of blood, the intenstitial mucusa cells oedema. Conclusion The increase of plasma ET might lead to impairment of mucosal microcirculation, which might be one of the pathogens that could induce the gastric mucosal damages in common bileduct ligated dogs.
42 Wistar rats were divided into three groups at random, liver cirrhosis (LC), portal vein stricture (PVS) and sham operation (SO) group. The changes of barrier capability of gastric mucosa in portal hypertensive rats were observed. The results demonstrated: the splanchnic blood flow of the portal hypertensive rats increased, as compared with the normal control group (P<0.001), but actually gastric mucosa was under the condition of ischemia. Mucosa of gastric wall glycoprotein and PGE2 of gastric mucosa decreased, as compared with the normal control (P<0.01); and more seriously decreased in cirrhotic portal hypertensive rats, there was no significant difference about amount of the basal acid secretion (BAS) among the three groups, but the amount of H+ backdiffusion (H+BD) was obviously increased, as compared with the normal control group (P<0.001). The amount of H+BD of cirrhotic portal hypertensive rats was the highest among this three groups. The results suggest that the barrier capability of gastric mucosa with portal hypertension is lower than that of the normal control group and much lower with cirrhotic portal hypertensive rats. The portal hypertensive gastropathy is associated with the lower capability of defense of gastric mucosa. The condition of liver function contributes to the change of barrier capability of gastric mucosa.
Dysplasia of gastric stump mucosa in 47 cases was studies.Nuclear DNA contents were measured with an automatic imagie analysis system. The results showed that the mean values of the nuclear DNA contents, area, perimeter, maximum diameter, minimum diameter increased with the increase of severity of dysplasia in gastric stump mucosa(Plt;0.01);where as nuclear form factor decreased with the increase of severity of dysplasia in gastric stump mucosa(Plt;0.05).Severe dysplasia is similar to that of gastric stump cancer in the DNA ploidy histogram. Our results indicate biological behaviour of gastric stump mucosa dysplasia. This study suggests that DNA contents analysis may be used as an important reference for grading, screening, and treating dysplasia of gastric stump mucosa.
