  • Preliminary Study of Correlation Between Androgen or Stathmin Expression in Patients with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and Its Clinicopathologic Factors

Objective To explore the expressions of androgen (AR) and Stathmin in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and analyze the correlation between these expressions and clinicopathologic features. Methods Eighty-three patients who were diagnosed as TNBC and met the inclusion criteria from 2005 to 2009 in the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital were collected retrospectively. The expressions of AR and Stathmin in the TNBC tissues by using the method of EnVision immunohistochemistry. The correlation between AR or Stathmin expression and age, tumor size, lymph node status, or histological grade was analyzed by Spearman test. Results The AR and Stathmin positive expression rates in the patients with TNBC were 37.3% (31/83) and 98.8% (82/83), respectively. The AR expression was positively correlated with age(rs=0.302, P=0.006)and pathological grade (rs=0.225, P=0.041), but was not correlated with tumor size or lymph node status. The Stathmin expression was not correlated with age, tumor size, lymph node status, or pathological grade (P>0.05) . Conclusions The AR expression is correlated with the age or pathological grade but Stathmin expression was all not correlated with the clinicopathologic features. AR or Stathmin as a prognosis indicator in patients with TNBC are needed to more research.

  • Application of MDT in the diagnosis and treatment of a huge retroperitoneal small cell carcinoma

ObjectiveTo explore the application of MDT mode in the diagnosis and treatment of a large retroperitoneal small cell carcinoma.MethodsA huge retroperitoneal tumor about 25 cm×18 cm was found by the preoperative abdominal MRI examination, which was considered as the malignant tumor. Considering the patient’s condition, MDT consultation of the specialists in radiology, oncology, vascular surgery, urinary surgery, and anesthesiology was conducted.ResultsBy MDT discussion, the general condition of patient was good. At present, the diagnosis of the huge retroperitoneal tumor was confirmed. Although the tumor was surrounded with related organs closely, yet the radical operation was finished smoothly and the R0 resection was achieved through the collaboration of MDT. The operation lasted 365 minutes, and the intraoperative blood loss was about 200 mL. Postoperative pathology confirmed that the tumor margin was negative and no postoperative complication occurred. The total number of hospital stays was 23 days. The patient’s return to the hospital for review in 4 months after discharge revealed a tumor recurrence. Then, combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the patient’s condition was stable during treatment.ConclusionFor rare cases of retroperitoneal small cell carcinoma involving multiple disciplines, the treatment based on MDT is able to bring better clinical outcome to patients due to safer and more feasible.

  • Cross-Sectional Study on Pre-Hypertension Accompanied with Cardiovascular Risk Factors between Urban and Rural Areas in Chengdu

Objective To investigate pre-hypertension in aspects of its incidence, accompanied cardiovascular risk factors, and difference between urban and rural areas in Chengdu. Methods By cluster random sampling method, a total of 2 011 patients aged 35-70 years from urban and rural communities in Chengdu were selected as respondents. The investigation was conducted through questionnaire, physical examination and laboratory tests, so as to find out the main cardiovascular risk factors of pre-hypertension. All data were dual input into computer by a specially-assigned person. SPSS 13.0 software was used for analysis, Chi-square test was adopted for categorical data, and Plt;0.05 was taken as an index for significant difference. Results a) The incidence rate of pre-hypertensive in Chengdu was 33.6%, and it was 45.67% and 46.31% in urban and rural areas, respectively. In rural area, more male (51.04%) were affected than female (42.83%). b) The smoking population with pre-hypertension were mainly the male, and the ratio of rural male was 60% (132/220), far higher than that of urban male which was 32.6% (59/181). c) The pre-hypertensive population accompanied with diabetes was higher in urban (27.97%) than rural (14.01%). d) The pre-hypertensive population accompanied with hypercholesterolemia or low HDL was 33.04% (150/454) in urban, as twice as that in rural which was 16.41% (76/471). e) The pre-hypertensive population accompanied with abdominal obesity was far higher in urban (28.41%) than rural (12.74%). Conclusion Smoking is the risk factor which needs to be primarily intervened for male hypertensive patients in rural area. Impaired glucose tolerance is the common risk factor for both urban and rural residents, and hyperlipidemia is the most primarily risk factor for urban pre-hypertensive patients, followed by diabetes, and abdominal obesity.

  • Model test study on treatment of Pruzansky type ⅡB and Ⅲ hemifacial microsomia with artificial condyle-mandibular distractor complex

ObjectiveTo preliminarily verify the effectiveness of self-designed artificial condyle-mandibular distraction (AC-MD) complex in the treatment of Pruzansky type ⅡB and Ⅲ hemifacial microsomia (HFM) through model test. MethodsFive children with Pruzansky type ⅡB and Ⅲ HFM who were treated with mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) between December 2016 and December 2021 were selected as the subjects. There were 3 boys and 2 girls wih an average age of 8.4 years (range, 6-10 years). Virtual surgery and model test of AC-MD complex were performed according to preoperative skull CT of children. The model was obtained by three-dimensional (3D) printing according to the children’s CT data at a ratio of 1∶1. The occlusal guide plate was designed and 3D printed according to the children’s toothpaste model. The results of the model test and the virtual surgery were matched in three dimensions to calculate the error of the residual condyle on the affected side, and the model test was matched with the actual skull CT after MDO to measure and compare the inclination rotation of the mandible, the distance between the condylar of the healthy side and the residual condyle of the affected side, and the lengthening length of the mandible. ResultsThe error of residual condyle was (1.07±0.78) mm. The inclination rotation of the mandible, the distance between the condylar of the healthy side and the residual condyle of the affected side, and the lengthening length of the mandible after 3D printing model test were significantly larger than those after MDO (P<0.05). Conclusion In the model test, the implantation of AC-MD complex can immediately rotate the mandible to the horizontal position and improve facial symmetry, and the residual condyle segment can be guided close to the articular fossa or the preset pseudoarticular position of the skull base after operation.
