  • FABRICATION AND APPLICATION IN VITRO OF PEDICLE GUIDE DEVICE FOR PEDICLE SCREWS INSERTION

Objective To evaluate the accuracy of pedicle guide device for the placement of the pedicle screws. Methods Pedicle guide device was designed and made for the anatomical trait of pedicle. The 3-Danatomical data of the thoracic pedicles were measured by multislice spiral CT in two embalmed human cadaveric thoracic pedicles spine(T1 -T10). Depending on transverse section angle(TSA) and sagittal section angle(SSA) of pedicle axis, the degree of horizontal dial and sagittal dial were adjusted in the guide device. The screws wereinserted bilaterally in the thoracic pedicles by using the device. After pulling the screws out, the pathways were filled with contrast media. The TSA and SSA of developed pathways were measured. Results Analysis of the difference between pedicle axis and developed pathway was of no statistical significance(P>0.05). Conclusion The guide device could be easilyoperated and guarantee high accuracy of the pathways of screws and the incidence of pedicle penetration could be significantly reduced.

  • Study on the effect of small alcohol on lipid hydration and liposome formation

Liposomes with precisely controlled composition are usually used as membrane model systems to investigate the fundamental interactions of membrane components under well-defined conditions. Hydration method is the most common method for liposome formation which is found to be influenced by composition of the medium. In this paper, the effects of small alcohol (ethanol) on the hydration of lipid molecules and the formation of liposomes were investigated, as well as its coexistence with sodium chloride. It was found that ethanol showed the opposite effect to that of sodium chloride on the hydration of lipid molecules and the formation of liposomes. The presence of ethanol promoted the formation of liposomes within a certain range of ethanol content, but that of sodium chloride suppressed the liposome formation. By investigating the fluorescence intensity and continuity of the swelled membranes as a function of contents of ethanol and sodium chloride, it was found that sodium chloride and ethanol showed the additive effect on the hydration of lipid molecules when they coexisted in the medium. The results may provide some reference for the efficient preparation of liposomes.

  • Anatomical study of anterior cruciate ligament and its effect on reconstruction technique

Objective To summarize the current research progress of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) anatomy, and discuss its effect on the reconstruction technique. Methods The literature concerning ACL anatomy and reconstruction at home and abroad was extensively reviewed and summarized. Results The anatomy and morphology of ACL has gained new recognition in recent years, and the " Ribbon-like” ACL has gradually been paid attention to by researchers. In present researches, it seems the " Ribbon-like” anatomy theory has advantages in theory when compared with the previous anatomy theory. It is more in line with the anatomy and isometric reconstruction. Conclusion The understanding of ACL anatomy guided the development of ACL reconstruction. The " Ribbon-like” ACL anatomy theory is the different understanding of the anatomy theory, which remains controversy. The " Ribbon-like” reconstruction maybe has more advantages in theory, but further study is needed.

  • Effect of micro RNA-335-5p regulating bone morphogenetic protein 2 on osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of micro RNA (miR)-335-5p regulating bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) on the osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs).MethodshBMSCs were cultured in vitro and randomly divided into control group (group A), miR-335-5p mimics group (group B), miR-335-5p mimics negative control group (group C), miR-335-5p inhibitor group (group D), and miR-335-5p inhibitor negative control group (group E). After grouping treatment and induction of osteogenic differentiation, the osteogenic differentiation of cells in each group was detected by alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and alizarin red staining; the expressions of miR-335-5p and BMP-2, Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), osteopontin (OPN), and osteocalcin (OCN) mRNAs were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR analysis; the expressions of Runx2, OPN, OCN, and BMP-2 proteins were detected by Western blot.ResultsCompared with group A, the relative proportion of ALP positive cells and the relative content of mineralized nodules, the relative expressions of BMP-2, miR-335-5p, OPN, OCN, Runx2 mRNAs, the relative expressions of Runx2, OPN, OCN, and BMP-2 proteins in group B were significantly increased (P<0.05); the above indexes in group D were significantly decreased (P<0.05); the above indexes between groups C, E and group A were not significantly different (P>0.05).ConclusionmiR-335-5p can up-regulate BMP-2 expression and promote osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs.

  • Effectiveness of arthroscopic 360° capsular release for frozen shoulder

ObjectiveTo investigate the effectiveness of arthroscopic 360° capsular release for frozen shoulder.MethodsBetween April 2018 and April 2019, 42 patients with frozen shoulders were treated with arthroscopic 360° capsular release. There were 13 males and 29 females, with an average age of 52.3 years (range, 45-56 years). There were 14 left shoulders and 28 right shoulders. The disease duration ranged from 5 to 18 months (mean, 11.1 months). The main clinical symptoms were limited active and passive movement of the shoulder joint with severe pain. All patients excluded impingement syndrome and shoulder osteoarthritis. Preoperative range of motion was as follows: forward flexion (93.2±15.4)°, external rotation at side (15.9±6.0)°, external rotation at 90° abduction (18.4±9.9)°, and internal rotation reaching the greater trochanter in 5 cases, buttocks in 20 cases, S1 level in 17 cases. The visual analogue scale (VAS) score was 6.7±1.7 and the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (ASES) score was 41.6±9.3. The active range of motion of shoulder joint, VAS score, and ASES score were recorded during follow-up.ResultsAll incisions healed by first intention, and no early complications occurred. Patients were followed up 12-24 months (mean, 15.6 months). After operation, forward flexion, external rotation at side, and external rotation at 90° abduction significantly improved when compared with preoperatively (P<0.05). The range of internal rotation restored to the level of T6-12 at 3 weeks, which was equivalent to that of the normal side at 12 months after operation (Z=–0.943, P=0.346). VAS scores decreased and ASES scores increased after operation, and the differences between pre- and post-operation were significant (P<0.05); and with time, the VAS scores and ASES scores improved further (P<0.05).ConclusionArthroscopic 360° capsular release can significantly increase the range of motion of the shoulder joint, release pain, and improve function. It is an effective method for the treatment of frozen shoulders.

  • Research progress of tissue engineering technology in promoting revascularization of necrotic femoral bone tissue

ObjectiveTo summarize the research progress of tissue engineering technology to promote bone tissue revascularization in osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH).MethodsThe relevant domestic and foreign literature in recent years was extensively reviewed. The mechanism of femoral head vascularization and the application progress of tissue engineering technology in the promotion of ONFH bone tissue revascularization were summarized.ResultsRebuilding or improving the blood supply of the femoral head is the key to the treatment of ONFH. Tissue engineering is a hot spot in current research. It mainly focuses on the three elements of seed cells, scaffold materials, and angiogenic growth factors, combined with three-dimensional printing technology and drug delivery systems to promote the revascularization of the femoral bone tissue.ConclusionThe strategy of revascularization of the femoral head can improve the local blood supply and delay or even reverse the progression of ONFH disease.
