PURPOSE:To verify existance of a-,~-,and 3'-protein kinase C(PKC)subspecies and their localization in rabbit retina. METHODS: Using an immunohistoehemical technique with mono- elonal antibodies against PKC isozymes- I (a),-I[ (13),and -~[ (Y) to characterize the distribution of PKC in rabbit retina. RESULTS:There is a positive immunostaining for a-,13-,and ~-PKC in rabbit retina. The immunoreactivity of a-PKC was observed mainly in the bipolar cells of inner nuclear layer and the outer segments of photorecptors. The positive immunostaining of 13-PKC could be seen in the ganglion cells, inner plexiform layer, inner nuclear layer, and the outer segments of photoreceptors. A diffuse and weak staining of Y-PKC is recognized in the ganglion cell layer, inner plexifrom layer, inner nuclear layer, and the outer segments of photoreceptors. CONCLUSION:The protein kinase C sub- speeies-a,-~,and-'Y are present in retina which is a part of the central nervous system
Objective To detect the activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and LDH isoenzyme, and to explore the relation between biological behavior ofpancreatic cancer and glycolysis. MethodsConsecutive 12 cases of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and 12 benign lesions such as insulinoma from October 2006 to July 2008 were collected, as well as normal pancreatic tissues. The total activity of the LDH was detected by the LDH testing kits, and the iosenzyme pattern of LDH was inspected by the France Sebia hydrasys. ResultsCompared to the normal tissue, LDH activity ofpancreatic cancer and adjacent non-cancerous tissue was significantly higher (P<0.05). LDH iosenzyme pattern in cancer tissue was also significantly different, the percentage of LDH4 and LDH5 increased obviously, and were greater than that innormal tissue (P<0.05). ConclusionThe alteration of LDH activity and its isoenzyme pattern are possibly related to the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer. Inhibit the LDH activity may be a new therapeutic strategy.
ObjectiveTo evaluate the prognosis factors for early death (within 60 days) of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients for early identification and prevention of the disease. MethodsWe analyzed the information of AML patients who were admitted to the emergency department between May 2009 and July 2010, and analyzed their clinical data, such as gender, age, prehospital time, myocardial enzyme, electrocardiogram, complications, whether the patients had thrombolysis therapy, time of thrombolysis, end point observation and time of death, ect. Cox multivariate survival analysis was performed with the use of SPSS 18.0 software. ResultsSeventy-one cases were collected with one of them excluded for fragmented data. After analysing, we found that patients' age and isoenzymes of creatine kinase (CK-MB) level were prognosis factors for early death. Further analysis showed that the relative risk (RR) of age was 1.166 (P=0.023), and the RR of CK-MB was 1.001 (P=0.004). ConclusionPatients' age has predictive value for early death of AML. More attention should be paid to AML patients with advanced age. Detecting myocardial enzymes levels, especially the CK-MB level, is significant for predicting early death. Other indicators need to be further explored due to the possible limitation of our study.
