  • Experimental Study of Intrahepatic Biliary Perfusion by Contrast Enhanced Ultrasonography via Bile Duct

    ObjectiveTo explore the possibility of intrahepatic biliary perfusion by contrast enhanced ultrasonography via bile duct. MethodsSixteen rabbits weighing 2 000-2 500 g were studied. A 22 gauge catheter was inserted in the common bile duct by surgery. The rabbits were divided into 4 groups according to the concentration of contrast agent, including group A:1/100 of standard concentration; group B:1/200 of standard concentration; group C:1/400 of standard concentration; and group D:1/800 of standard concentration. We observed the filling status, presence of outflow of contrast enhanced signal and satisfactory enhanced time after the injection of contrast agent via the catheter in common bile duct. ResultsFive milliliter of contrast agent was injected in each rabbit. The number of homogeneous filling in group A, B, C and D was 4, 4, 3 and 0 respectively. The number of presence of outflow of contrast enhanced signal in group A, B, C and D was 4, 1, 0 and 0 respectively. The satisfactory enhanced time in group A, B, C and D was (340±29) s, (284±37) s, (82±8) s and 0 s respectively. There was no statistical difference in the satisfactory enhanced time between group A and B (P=0.06) while significant difference in the satisfactory enhanced time between group A and C (P < 0.01), and between group B and C (P < 0.01) was found. ConclusionIt is possible to perfuse the intrahepatic biliary system by sonographic contrast agents via bile duct, and 1/200 of standard concentration is a proper concentration of contrast agent to achieve satisfactory imaging.

  • Analysis of Risk Factors for Retinopathy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

    ObjectiveTo investigate the risk factors for retinopathy in type 2 diabetes patients. MethodsA total of 112 patients with type 2 diabetes treated between December 2009 and December 2012 were divided into two groups. Fifty-two patients had no diabetic retinopathy (NDR group) and 60 had diabetic retinopathy (DR group). Blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood glucose were detected to analyze the correlation of retinopathy with disease course, blood pressure, blood lipid, and blood sugar. ResultsDisease course was longer and blood glucose level was higher in DR group than in NDR group (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis results showed that the incidence of retinopathy was correlated with blood glucose[OR=1.490, 95% CI (1.123, 1.976), P=0.006] and disease course[OR=2.207, 95% CI (1.579, 3.085), P=0.000]. ConclusionBlood glucose and disease course may be the risk factors for DR. Active control of the blood glucose can be benefit for the prevention and treatment of DR.

  • EFFECT OF MECHANICAL TENSION ON EXPRESSIONS OF RhoA/Rho ASSOCIATED PROTEIN KINASES IN RAT TENDON STEM CELLS IN VITRO/

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of different mechanical tensions on the expressions of RhoA/Rho associated protein kinases (ROCK) in rat tendon stem cells (TSCs). MethodsTSCs were isolated from the tendon tissue of male Sprague Dawley rats (aged, 2-3 months; weighing, 200-250 g) by enzymatic digestion method and cultured for 2-3 passages, then seeded on micro groovdishes. The 4% (4% stretch group) and 8% (8% stretch group) mechanical stretching was performed for 4 hours every day at 1 Hz. After 1, 2, and 3 days, the protein and mRNA expressions of RhoA and ROCK were measured by Western blot and real-time quantitative PCR. The cell proliferation was measured by cell counting kit 8. The cells were not stretched as control group. ResultsThe TSCs at passage 2 showed a cobble-stone shape and aggregation growth; TSCs seeded on micro groovdishes showed random growth, and the cells grew along the stretching direction after mechanical stretching. The mRNA expressions of RhoA and ROCK in control group, 4%, and 8% stretch groups showed an increasing tendency at 1, 2, and 3 days, showing significant difference between groups (P<0.05). The protein expressions of RhoA and ROCK in 4% and 8% stretch groups were similar to those in control group at 1 day (P>0.05), but the expressions in 4% and 8% stretch groups showed an increasing tendency at 2 and 3 days, which were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The cell proliferation of 8% stretch group was significantly lower than that of 4% stretch group and control group at each time point (P<0.05), but no significant difference was found between 4% stretch group and control group (P>0.05). ConclusionThe expressions of RhoA and ROCK of rat TSCs are positively correlated with stretch intensity. So RhoA/ROCK may be an important molecule in TSCs after mechanical stretching.

  • Status and Risk Factors Analysis on 4L Lymphatic Metastasis in Lung Cancer

    ObjectiveTo observe the outcome of left lung cancer underwent surgical treatment and to analysis the relative risk factors for 4L lymphatic metastasis. MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 643 lung cancer patients who had underwent mediastinal lymph node dissection intraoperatively in our hospital between January 2011 and December 2013. There were 430 males and 213 females with a mean age of 60.2±9.6 years(range 22 to 83 years), 260 patients had their 4L lymph node dissected, while other 383 patients did not. ResultsAmong 260 patients with 4L lymph node dissected, 44(16.9%) were found 4L lymph node metastasis pathologically. And the results indicated that station 5 lymph node metastasis(P=0.000, OR=12.108 with 95%CI 4.564 to 32.122), station 7 lymph node metastasis(P=0.000, OR=8.496 with 95%CI 2.594 to 27.827), station 8 lymph node metastasis(P=0.029, OR=24.915 with 95%CI 1.395 to 444.948), station 10 lymph node metastasis(P=0.014, OR=3.983, 95%CI 1.321 to 12.009) were independently associated with high risk for 4L lymph node metastasis. Conclusion4L lymphadenectomy should be performed for left invasive lung cancer regularly, especially for patients with hilar lymph node and other mediastinal lymph node metastasis.
