  • Observation the distribution of γ-aminobutyric acid of the reconstructed RCS rat’s retina after transplanting pure photoreceptor cells

Purpose Photoreceptor cells transplantation was used to determine the localization of the amino acid neurotransmitters (gamma;-aminobutyrate,GABA) in royal college of surgeons rat (RCS rat)'s retina. Methods The healthy Wistar ratsphotorec eptor cells were grafted into the subretinal space of the left eye of the RCS rat by outer path way. Two weeks later, host animals were sacrificed. Both sides of eyes were processed for light microscopic analysis. So did the 74 days Wis tar rats and 74 days RCS rats. Then the method of immunocytochemistry was used to determine the localization of the amino acid neurotransmitters GABA.We gauge the quantity of the amacrine cells and the optical density of inner plexiform layer (IPL) and ganglion cell layer (GCL) of the four groups.ANOVA test were complied to determine significant difference between them. Results After two weeks of transplantation, the transplanted photor eceptor cells survived and the outer plexiform layer was rebuilt .There are significant differences (Plt;0.001) in the level of the GABA immunoreactivity (IR) within the IPL between the grafted RCS rats eyes and the ungrafted RCS rats eyes. There are differences (ANOVA, Plt;0 .05) of the quantity of the GABAenergetic amacrine cells among the grafted RCS rats eyes, the ungrafted RCS rats eyes and the Wistar rats. But there was no difference of the quantity of the GABAenergetic amacrine cell s among the grafted RCS rats retina. Conclusio These results suggest that the level of GABA neurotr ansmitters in the reconstructed retina is almost normal, which indicate the func tion of the morbid retina may be resumed by transplanting the photor eceptor cells. • Diagnostic Value of Serum pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (Pro-GRP) in Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (Pro-GRP) in patients with small cell lung cancer. Methods We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library and other databases (1966 to Sept 2009) to collect studies which evaluated the diagnostic value of Pro-GRP in patients with small cell lung cancer. The heterogeneity of the included studies was tested by the Cochrane Collaboration’s software RevMan 4.2. The Summary Receiver Operating Characteristic (SROC) curve and meta-analyses were performed by MetaDisc. Results A total of 256 relevant articles were retrieved and 19 were included in our review. Eleven studies involving 1 447 patients were included. Meta-analyses showed that the heterogeneity among studies was high (P﹤0.000 01, I2=69.3%), the pooled sensitivity was 0.717 and the pooled specificity was 0.963. Subgroup analyses indicated that 9 of the studies which used the LD (Limited diseases) SCLC group (P=0.003, I2=65.5%, SEN=0.637, SPE=0.968, SROC AUC=0.724 3) had heterogeneity and ED (Extensive diseases) SCLC group (P=0.2, I2=27.0%, SEN=0.766, SPE=0.968, SROC AUC=0.935 5) had no heterogeneity. And 15 of the studies of Pro-GRP which were determined by acmmercial sandwich ELISA (Japan) group (P=0.000 1, I2=68.5%) had heterogeneity. Three of the studies of Pro-GRP which were determined by ELISA (Germany) group (P=0.948 7, I2=0.001%) had no heterogeneity. Conclusion Pro-GRP could be regarded as one of the reference tests in patients with small cell lung cancer, but higher quality trials are required.

  • Impact of World Health Organization multimodal hand hygiene improvement strategy on hand hygiene compliance among acupuncturists

Objective To understand the effect of World Health Organization(WHO) multimodal hand hygiene improvement strategy on hand hygiene compliance among acupuncturists. Methods All the acupuncturists in departments (Department of Acupuncture, Department of Encephalopathy, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology) with acupuncture programs in Xi’an Hospital of TCM were chosen in this study between September 2015 and August 2016. Based on the WHO multimodal hand hygiene improvement strategy, comprehensive measures were regulated among acupuncturists. Hand hygiene compliance and accuracy, and hand hygiene knowledge score were compared before and after the strategy intervention. Then, the effects of key strategies were evaluated. Results Overall hand hygiene compliance rate, accuracy and knowledge scores increased from 51.07%, 19.86% and 81.90±2.86 before intervention to 72.34%, 51.70%, and 98.62±2.92 after intervention (P<0.05). Hand hygiene compliance rates also increased in various occasions such as before contacting the patient, after contacting the patient, before acupuncture treatment, and before acupuncture needle manipulation (P<0.05). Conclusion Hand hygiene compliance in acupuncturists can be significantly improved by the implementation of WHO multimodal hand hygiene improvement strategy.

  • Effect of right vertical infra-axillary thoracotomy on the repair of ventricular septal defect in children

ObjectiveTo study the safety of right vertical infra-axillary thoracotomy (RVIAT) in the repair of ventricular septal defect (VSD) and the optimal age for RVIAT.MethodsBetween June 2014 and June 2018, 441 children underwent VSD repair via RVIAT in our hospital. According to the age, they were divided into four groups: a 4 months to 1 year old group (R1 group, n=123), a 1-2 years old group (R2 group, n=106), a 2-5 years old group (R3 group, n=166), a >5 years old group (R4 group, n=46). The clinical effects of the patients were compared.ResultsAll the operations were successfully performed and no serious complication was found in all groups. No statistical difference was observed in the operation time, blood loss during operation, thoracic drainage 24 h after operation among groups (P>0.05). The cardiopulmonary bypass time, aortic cross-blocking time and ICU stay time in the R1 and R2 groups were longer than those in the R3 and R4 groups (P<0.05). In the R1 group, the postoperative ventilating time and postoperative hospital stay time were longer, and the blood transfusion volume was more than those in the R3 and R4 groups (P<0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications was higher in the R4 group than that in the R1 and R3 groups (P<0.05).ConclusionVSD repair via RVIAT may be more effective in children >2 years old, and 2-5 years old may be the optimal age.
