With the progresses of the research on "Digital Human", more and more information has been needed for the setting up of the three-dimensional digital models of human organs. In the present paper, based on the method of block mapping with a normal-style bump mapping method, we normalized the vector of the surface of the models, computed offset of the texture coordinates and added to them. The projection of the coordinates to the tangential space complemented the disturbance to the vector of models' surface. The method was proposed with bump texture mapping on the surface of the biological models of organs to improve the impression of the visualization of the organ models and to enhance the sense of reality of the models.
Real-time free breathing cardiac cine imaging is a reproducible method with shorter acquisition time and without breath-hold for cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. However, the detection of end-diastole and end-systole frames of real-time free breathing cardiac cine imaging for left ventricle function analysis is commonly completed by visual identification, which is time-consuming and laborious. In order to save processing time, we propose a method for semi-automatic identification of end-diastole and end-systole frames. The method fits respiratory motion signal and acquires the expiration phase, end-diastole and end-systole frames by cross correlation coefficient. The procedure successfully worked on ten healthy volunteers and validated by the analysis of left ventricle function compared to the standard breath-hold steady-state free precession cardiac cine imaging without any significant statistical differences. The results demonstrated that the present method could correctly detect end-diastole and end-systole frames. In the future, this technique may be used for rapid left ventricle function analysis in clinic.
ObjectiveTo evaluate the safety and efficiency of perioperative low molecular heparin (LMH) as the replacement of anticoagulant for patients with inguinal hernia. MethodsSixty-three patients with oblique inguinal hernia from April 2009 to April 2012 in this hospital were analyzed retrospectively.Seventeen cases because of other diseases were long-term oral aspirin anticoagulant therapy (aspirin group), 11 cases because of other diseases were long-term oral warfarin anticoagulant therapy (warfarin group), anticoagulant therapy was replaced by continuing LMH 7 d before operation in the aspirin group and the warfarin group. The other 35 cases did not take any anticoagulant therapy (control group). Results①The demography and preoperative international normalized ratio were similar among three groups (P > 0.05).②All the patients were followed-up.The duration of follow-up ranged from 12 months to 18 months. There were no statistical differences of the scrotal hematoma or subcutaneous hematoma, operation time, postoperative hospital stay, and VAS scoring among these three groups (P > 0.05).There was no recurrence in all the patients. ConclusionFor a long term application of anticoagulant in patients with oblique inguinal hernia, perioperative application of LMH instead of anticoagulant does not increase the risk of bleeding, and could prevent thrombosis.
ObjectiveTo explore the clinicopathological characteristics of combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC), and the prognostic factors associated with survival. MethodesThe clinical features of 31 patients with cHCC-CC from 1995 to 2010 in West China Hospital of Sichuan University underwent liver resection were analyzed retrospectively. The prognostic factors were analyzed by using univariate and multivariate analysis. ResultsOf these 31 patients, 25 men and 6 women, with a median age of 58 years, underwent liver resection for cHCC-CC. Twentythree cases (74.2%) showed positive of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), 13 cases (41.9%) had elevated AFP≥20μg/L, 18 cases (58.1%) with liver cirrhosis, 8 cases (25.8%) showed presence of lymph node metastases. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival rates of these patients were 61.3%, 32.3%, and 12.9%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that invasion of portal vein, microscopic tumor thrombi, positive resection margins, and lymph node involvement were significant prognostic factors. Multiple analysis revealed the positive resection margins and lymph node involvement were independent prognostic factors for overall survival. ConclusionsThe prognosis of patients with cHCC-CC is poor. R0 resection is the only available treatment in curing these patients.

ObjectiveTo review the research progress of the roles of inflammation and immune response in the formation of pathological scar. MethodsThe recent literature concerning the formation mechanism of pathological scar was extensively consulted, inflammation and immune response involved in the formation of pathological scar was reviewed. ResultsThe formation of pathological scar is associated with inflammation and immune response, some inflammatory factors will promote the activation of immune cells, then induce immune cells releasing cytokines and aggravate inflammatory response. However, inflammation response also affects the level of immune response. So they work together to promote the formation of pathological scar by the immuno-inflammatory cells and media. ConclusionThe formation of pathological scar is not only related to inflammation response, but also involves in immune response. Moreover, immune response is the new progress in the study of pathological scar mechanism in recent years. Further research of immuno-inflammatory response will provide new ideas and corresponding basis for the prevention of pathological scar.
ObjectiveTo review the osteoclasts (OC) function beyond bone resorption. MethodsThe related literature on OC function beyond bone resorption was reviewed, analyzed, and summarized. ResultsOC control the bone formation through releasing of matrix-derived growth factors, bidirectional cell-to-cell signals, and secreting OC-coupling factors, and play an important role in the niche formation, hematopoietic stem cells mobilization, and maintenance of its quantity and function;besides, OCs also regulate angiogenesis. ConclusionThese discoveries greatly enrich the current knowledge of OC function and open up an all-new research domain. However, the exact regulatory mechanism of OC affecting the hematopoiesis is still lack in-depth understood. Additionally, it remains to be elucidated how OC-coupling factors act on osteoblast lineage differentiation and how OC-induced angiogenesis participates in physiological and pathological processes. Unclosing the underlying mechanisms will facilitate providing scientific therapeutic strategies for treatment of many OC-related diseases.
Objective To explore the application of WeChat software in the follow-up of patients with primary hypertension. Methods Seventy-two patients with primary hypertension treated between June and December 2014 were randomly divided into two groups, WeChat group and phone group, with 36 in each. The patients in both the two groups were followed up once a week for three months. We recorded patients’ blood pressure, heart rate, and body mass index (BMI), assessed their life style, and compared follow-up time, rate of readmission, satisfaction degree, medication compliance and follow-up loss rate between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in blood pressure, heart rate and BMI between the two groups (P>0.05). At the end of the follow-up, there were no significant differences in blood pressure, heart rate, BMI, salt-intake compliance, medicine-intake compliance, patient satisfaction, follow-up loss rate, and readmission rate between the two groups (P>0.05), but patients in the WeChat group were less than those in the Phone group in terms of average weekly smoking, alcohol consumption, and follow-up time (P<0.05), and were better in terms of average weekly sport-time (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of WeChat software for follow-up in patients with primary hypertension can effectively improve the patients’ life style and follow-up efficiency.
Amyloid fibrils belong to a category of abnormal aggregations of natural proteins, which are closely related to many human diseases. Recently, some critical peptide sequences have been extensively studied for clarifying the molecular mechanism of natural proteins to form amyloid fibrils. In the present study, we designed a short peptide GGAAVV (GAV-6) composed of hydrophobic amino acids glycine (G), alanine (A) and valine (V) and studied its ability to form amyloid fibrils. As characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS), the peptide could self-assemble into smooth nanofibers without branches. Congo red staining/binding and thioflavin-T (ThT) binding experiments show that the nanofibers formed by GAV-6 shared identical properties with typical amyloid fibrils. These results show that the designed peptide GAV-6 could self-assemble into typical amyloid fibrils, which might make it a useful model molecule to clarify the mechanism for the formation of amyloid fibrils in the future.
