  • Research on Visualization of Ultrasonic Rhinitis Therapeutic Apparatus Based on V4L2

    This paper reports the study and design of a visualization system of the ultrasonic rhinitis therapeutic apparatus with the function of endoscopic sinus. On Linux operating platform, we captured the video data of a video capture card that connected the endoscopic sinus using Video4Linux (V4L2) that was provided by the operating system. The video images were displayed by Qt. The visualization system solved the problem that the current ultrasonic rhinitis therapeutic apparatus had to rely on the large and expensive endoscopy equipment. And this simplified the doctors' operation, met the need of monitoring nasal cavity in the process of operating, greatly reduced the costs of treatment and would contribute to the promotion of the instrument. As a result, it has been tested that the nasal endoscopic image achieved by the system is clear and smooth, and fully meet the clinical needs of ultrasonic treatment of rhinitis.

  • Development of RF Coil of Permanent Magnet Mini-magnetic Resonance Imager and Mouse Imaging Experiments

    In the development of radio frequency (RF) coils for better quality of the mini-type permanent magnetic resonance imager for using in the small animal imaging, the solenoid RF coil has a special advantage for permanent magnetic system based on analyses of various types of RF coils. However, it is not satisfied for imaging if the RF coils are directly used. By theoretical analyses of the magnetic field properties produced from the solenoid coil, the research direction was determined by careful studies to raise further the uniformity of the magnetic field coil, receiving coil sensitivity for signals and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The method had certain advantages and avoided some shortcomings of the other different coil types, such as, birdcage coil, saddle shaped coil and phased array coil by using the alloy materials (from our own patent). The RF coils were designed, developed and made for keeled applicable to permanent magnet-type magnetic resonance imager, multi-coil combination-type, single-channel overall RF receiving coil, and applied for a patent. Mounted on three instruments (25 mm aperture, with main magnetic field strength of 0.5 T or 1.5 T, and 50 mm aperture, with main magnetic field strength of 0.48 T), we performed experiments with mice, rats, and nude mice bearing tumors. The experimental results indicated that the RF receiving coil was fully applicable to the permanent magnet-type imaging system.

  • Inhibition Role ofγ-Ray on Echinococcus Granulosus Protoscoleces in Mice In Vivo

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effect ofγ-ray irradiation on echinococcus protoscoleces before abdominal cavity implantation in mice. MethodsEchinococcus protoscoleces were cultured in vitro, and then divided into 5 groups, four groups receivedγ-ray irradiation with 10 Gy, 20 Gy, 40 Gy, and 80 Gy, respectively. The remaining control group was not irradiated. The protoscoleces were then implanted into the abdominal cavity of mice. Four months later, the incidence of echinococcosis was measured by detection of echinococcus antibody in the blood and then abdominal laparotomy was performed to isolate intraabdominal cysts, and the weight and structure of the echinococcus generated from the protoscoleces were measured and observed. ResultsAfter implantation of irradiated echinococcus protoscoleces in mice, the incidence of echinococcosis was 100% in the control group, 80.0% in the 10 Gy group, 33.3% in the 20 Gy group, 33.3% in the 40 Gy group, and 26.7% in the 80 Gy group. The echinococci had lower weight in the irradiated groups with 10 Gy (35.80 mg), with 20 Gy (0.00 mg), with 40 Gy (0.00 mg), and with 80 Gy (0.00 mg) as compared with the control group (157.80 mg). The echinococcus generated from the protoscoleces appeared calcification. Conclusionsγ-ray irradiation could inhibit the formation of echinococcus granulosus generated from protoscoleces, damage the structure of echinococcus generated from the protoscoleces. Irradiation might prevent echinococcosis recurrence after surgical removal of hydatid cysts.

  • CLINICAL EXPERIENCE OF RETROGRADE REPLANTATION FOR AMPUTATED TOE

    ObjectiveTo summarize the clinical experience of the retrograde replantation for amputated toe. MethodsBetween January 2010 and August 2015, 11 cases of amputated toes (15 toes) were treated by the retrograde replantation. All patients were male, with a mean age of 31 years (range, 18-45 years). The causes included cutting injury in 6 cases (9 toes) and crush injury in 5 cases (6 toes). One case had amputated great toe and distal segment of the second toe combined with the third toe nail bed contusion; 1 case had amputated proximal great toe and middle segment of the second and third toes; 1 case had amputated proximal segment of great toe and middle segment of the second toe; 7 cases had amputated distal segment of the great toe; and 1 case had amputated middle segment of the fifth toe. The time from injury to hospital was 1-3 hours (mean, 2 hours). ResultsThirteen toes survived completely after operation. Toe necrosis occurred in 1 toe; partial dorsal skins necrosis and nail bed necrosis occurred in 1 toe, and was cure after repaired with dorsalis pedis island flap. The rate of success for replantation of amputated toes was 93.33% (14/15). X-ray examination showed fracture healing of all survival toes at 8-12 weeks after operation (mean, 10 weeks); internal fixation was removed. Eleven cases were followed up 3-12 months (mean, 7.5 months). The survival toes had good appearance and toenail. The two point discrimination was 9-12 mm (mean, 10 mm) at last follow-up. The patients could walk and run normally. ConclusionIt is an ideal surgical method to use retrograde replantation to treat amputated toe, with the advantages of simple operation and high survival rate.
