Objective To understand the current research status of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy in colorectal cancer. Methods Literatures about the application of SLN biopsy in the field of colorectal surgery were collected and reviewed. Results The results of SLNs biopsy accurately reflected the status of the nodal basin. Focused examination of the SLNs could identify micrometastases that might otherwise had been missed by standard histopathological analysis, thus upstaged this group of patients. Conclusion SLN biopsy represents a new and effective technique to predict the tumor status of regional lymph nodes, which offers a potential alternative to improve the accuracy of tumor staging in colorectal cancer.
【Abstract】ObjectiveTo study the current research status of minichromosome maintenance protein 2 (MCM2), the cell cycle proliferation marker, in the diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma. MethodsLiteratures about the application of MCM2 in the study of colorectal carcinoma were collected and reviewed.ResultsMCM2, as a marker of cell dysplasia and malignancy, was usually used in the study of carcinoma. The study on expression of MCM2 in the cell of colorectum in different proliferational stage might help to screen colorectal carcinoma as early as possible. ConclusionAs a relatively specific and sensitive marker of cell proliferation, MCM2 might become a promising mark for diagnosing colorectal carcinoma in the early stage.
ObjectiveTo introduce the experience in diagnosing and treating cholecystoenteric fistula (CEF) during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). MethodsFive cases with CEF in a series of 4 200 LC cases were reviewed. All of the five patients were proved to have CEF during operations. There were four cholecystoduodenal fistulas and one cholecystocolic fistula. One case with cholecystoduodenal fistula was treated by a suturing of the fistula under laparoscopy; 1 case was closed with titaniun and 2 cases were converted to laparotomy and fistulectomy. The patient with cholecystocolic fistula clips was treated by a suturing of the fistula under laparoscopy. ResultsAll the patients had got good recovery without complications. Conclusion CEF is a rare complication of cholelithiasis. If the diagnosis is made before operation, open operation might be a better choice. But if the diagnosis was made during the LC operation, suture closure or clip closure or stapler closure of CEF under laparoscope might be chosen for an experienced surgeon.
Objective To summarize the relationship between tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) and apoptosis. Methods Domestic and international researches on progress of TRAF6 and apoptotic signaling pathway, especially focused on the functional features of TRAF6 in different system diseases were searched and reviewed. Results TRAF6 took part in several signaling pathways, which had been implicated in regulating apoptosis, and its roles differed in different system diseases and in different conditions. TRAF6 promoted tumorigenesis by inhibiting apoptosis, while it played a proapoptotic or prosurvival role in nervous system and inflammatory diseases. Conclusion TRAF6 plays an important role in apoptosis and involves in the development of tumor, nervous system disease, and inflammatory diseases.
Objective To summarize the important role of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) in toll like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, and to summarize the relationship between MyD88 and relative diseases, and its potential application value. Methods Domestic and international publications online involving the role of MyD88 in TLR signaling pathway and the influence of MyD88 in some kinds of diseases in recent years were collected and reviewed. Results MyD88 was an important adapter protein, and played a connecting role in the TLR signaling pathway. It was the bottle neck of TLR signaling pathway, and could lead to the activation of many transcription factor to initiate innate immune response. It was also related to a variety of diseases. Conclusions MyD88 is the key adapter protein in TLR signaling pathway. It plays an important role in innate immunity, acquired immunity, and a variety of diseases, so it is a potential therapeutic target.
Objective To summarize the research progress of microRNA (miRNA) as a tumor marker in peripheral blood. Methods The domestic and international published literatures about circulating miRNA as a tumor marker in recent years were reviewed. Results The miRNA expression has universality, stability and specificity, and it is related to the occurrence and development of viarous diseases. Conclusion Circulating miRNA shows a broad application prospect in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of tumor and other diseases.
Objective To investigate the role of T cell factor-4 (TCF-4) in the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer. Methods Relevant references about TCF-4 and the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer, which were published recently domestic and abroad, were collected and reviewed. Results For TCF-4 gene, multiple isoforms are generated by way of alternative splicing, which encode different proteins. TCF-4 protein is sequence-specific DNA binding protein and is incapable of activating or repressing transcription independently, but it can interact with distinct partners to lead to different effects through multiple domains. Conclusion TCF-4 might be viewed as nuclear vehicles targeting other auxiliary proteins to a specific set of promoters and functions as molecular switch during the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer.
【Abstract】ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of Tob mRNA in human colorectal cancer tissues, and their corresponding paracancerous normal tissues which was 10 cm above the tumor and pathologically proved and to explore the role of Tob mRNA in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. MethodsQuantitative real time RTPCR was used to detect the expression of Tob mRNA in 31 colorectal cancers. ResultsCompared with paracancerous tissue, the expression of Tob mRNA in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly increased. Moreover, the expression levels of Tob in Dukes A, B, C, D were 1.146±0.067, 1.120±0.073, 1.052±0.020 and 1.047±0.010 respectively. Analyzed by oneway ANOVA, there were significant differences in expression of Tob in different Dukes stage. ConclusionThe upregulation expression of Tob mRNA may be closely associated with tumorigenesis of colorectal carcinoma.
【Abstract】ObjectiveTo discuss the molecular structures and functions of Alu repeats, and its relationships with malignant tumors. MethodsAdvances in molecular biology and oncology of Alu repeats in recent years had been reviewed. ResultsHomologous recombination between Alu repeats may result in various genetic exchanges, including duplications, deletions and translocations, cause a series of malignancy alteration by activating some oncogenes. ConclusionAlu repeats as a sort of multifunction regulatory sequences may play an important role during the carcinogenesis and progression of some tumors.
【Abstract】Objective To investigate the recent studies on the biocharacters of keratin family (e.g. genetic mutations and abnormal expressions) and their relationships with the malignant tumors. Methods The literatures of recent years on the biocharacters of keratin family (e.g. genetic mutations and abnormal expressions) and their relationships with the malignant tumors were reviewed. Results Keratin family is a kind of structural proteins in cell which plays an important role in cytomechanics and regulates cell-cycle. The mutations of keratin genes (mRNA) or the overexpression of keratin proteins would interfere with the order of cell-cycle or the integrity of cytomechanics, and lead to some diseases and malignant tumors finally. Conclusion The studies on biocharaters of keratin family (e.g. genetic mutations and abnormal expressions) are helpful in the diagnosis, staging and the evaluation of prognosis of some diseases and cancers, e.g. liver cirrhosis, breast cancer, rectum carcinoma, etc.
