  • Clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of frozen shoulder in traditional Chinese medicine: a guideline interpretation

    China Association of Chinese Medicine officially issued the clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of frozen shoulder in traditional Chinese medicine (T/CACM 1416-2022) on November 14th, 2022. The guideline covers clinical diagnosis, treatment, prevention and care of frozen shoulder. This paper introduces the background of this guideline and interprets its contents of clinical diagnosis, treatment and prevention. It helps the applicable population deepen their understanding and standardization of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of frozen shoulder, and provides references for the development of relevant guidelines in traditional Chinese medicine orthopedics in the future.

  • Practical significance, content, methods and prospects of the study of geriatric comorbidity

    Comorbidity is a prominent public health problem in the elderly population. To carry out research on the comorbidity of the elderly is not only an important breakthrough to realize the national strategy of actively responding to the aging population, but also a vivid practice of earnestly implementing the "Healthy China" and other action programs. Based on the major public health issues of elderly comorbidity, this paper lists the main contents and methods of elderly comorbidity research from the perspective of secondary research and empirical research, and holds that this field contains both the profound thought of "holistic concept" and the advanced idea of "integrative medicine". At the same time, under the background of the new era, the gradual deepening of the research in this field may give birth to a brand-new discipline - geriatric comorbidity.

  • Non-operative treatments for lumbar disc herniation: an evidence-based practice guideline

    Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is one of the most important causes of back and leg pain, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. As the first-line treatment for LDH, non-operative treatment can relieve 80% to 90% of symptoms among the patients with LDH. This guideline followed Guidelines for the Formulation/Revision of Clinical Treatment Guidelines in China (2022 edition) and WHO handbook for guideline development (2014 edition) to set up guideline working group. This guideline identified fourteen clinical questions through the literature review and clinical experts’ consensus. We drafted the recommendations after systematically searching and evaluating the evidence; delphi method was adopted for expert consensus on the preliminary recommendations, finally, 19 recommendations were made to guide non-operative treatments for LDH. This guideline can provide guidance for the clinical practice of Chinese and western orthopedics practitioners.
