  • Topical Phenytoin for Wound Healing: A Systematic Review

Objective To explore the effectiveness and safety of topical phenytoin for wound healing. Methods We searched MEDLINE (1966 to Oct. 2002), EMBASE (1984 to 2002), The Cochrane Library (Issue 4, 2002), Biological Abstracts (1993 to 1996), Cancerlit (1997 to Sept. 2002), Life Science Collection (1982 to Mar. 1995), International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (1970 to 2002), and CBMdisc (1978 to Jan. 2003). Controlled trials on topical phenytoin for wound healing were identified. The methodological quality of included studies was assessed, and a descriptive analysis was performed. Results Nine studies (507 cases) including 1 randomized controlled trials (RCT) and 8 non-randomized controlled trials were included. These studies were of poor methodological quality. Because there were a variety of etiology of ulcers, differnet interventions in control groups, and different outcome measures, for which meta-analysis was difficult to perform, a descriptive analysis of the results was presented. Most studies showed that topical phenytoin had better effects on improving healthy granulation appearance, increasing complete recovery rate, reducing time for complete recovery, and positive cases of bacterial culture than those of control groups. Mild side effects were observed in only one study. Conclusions The reviewers think that the inclusion studies less rigorous than randomized controlled trials could result in misleading findings. Some well designed randomized controlled trials of topical phenytoin for wound healing are warranted.

  • THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MONOCLONAL CELL SUBLINES WITH DIFFERENT METASTATIC POTENTIAL FROM HUMAN PANCREATIC CANCER JF305

On the basis of established JF305 cell line from human pancreatic cancer at this university, cell clone technique, cell electrophoresis, flower cytometer, and cancer orthotopically implanted nude mice technique were used to establish the sublines with different metastatic potential from human pancreatic cancer line-JF305 and the nude mice model implanted orthotopically with human pancreatic cancer monoclonal sublines with different metastatic potential. The results showed that the monoclonal cell sublines with different metastatic potential from human pancreatic caner-JF305 and the nude mice model implanted orthotopically with the sublines, would provided a useful method to study the metastatic mechanism of human pancreatic cancer.

  • 局部应用噻吗心安对人眼脉络膜血液循环的影响

The effcet of topical timolol maleate 0.5% on the coroidal circulation was investigaed in 22 normal subjects using the color Doppler, with one eyes as the timolo-treated eye and the contralateral eye as the auto-control eye in each individual. The result showed that,of the 2 groups of eyes, there was a sighificant increase in time average maximum velocity(TAMX),systolic peak velocity(Vs),and distolic velocity(Vd) in timolol-treated eyes. The resistance index in timolol-treated eyes was lower than in the control eyes(p<0.05). Significant linear correlation in the timolol-treated eyesfound between perfusion and TAMX.It is thought that the increase in volumetric blood flow rate by timolol is due to two concurrent processes:1.an indrect effect on the choroidal circulation through the increase in perfusion pressure; 2.a dirct effect on choroidal vessels resulting from action of drug on adrenergic receptors that is present in the choroidal vasculature. • COMPARISON OF HISTOACRYL TOPICAL SKIN ADHESIVE AND TRADITIONAL METHOD FOR WOUND CLOSURE IN TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTY

ObjectiveTo compare the effectiveness between histoacryl topical skin adhesive and traditional method for wound closure in total hip arthroplasty (THA). MethodsA total of 159 patients undergoing THA were divided into 2 groups between January and October in 2015. Subcuticular suture and histoacryl topical skin adhesive (cyanoacrylate adhesive) were used in 80 patients (100 hips) (test group), and traditional method (skin staples and wound drainage) was used in 79 patients (100 hips) (control group) for wound closure. There was no significant difference (P > 0.05) in gender, age, body mass index, and etiology between 2 groups. The operation time, length of stay, incision pain visual analogue scale (VAS) score and healing of incision, and incision satisfaction evaluation, and classification were compared between 2 groups. ResultsAll patients were followed up 3-6 months (mean. 4.7 months). There was no significant difference in operation time between 2 groups (Z=-0.527, P=0.598); but the length of stay of test group was less than that of control group (Z=-2.004, P=0.045). Incision exudation and dehiscence occurred in 1 case (1 hip) and 1 case (1 hip) of test group respectively; incision swollen, persistent wound exudation, exudation, and sutured drainage tube occurred in 2 cases (2 hips), 2 cases (2 hips), 4 cases (4 hips), and 1 case (1 hip) of control group. No statistically significant difference was found in VAS score between 2 groups at 15 days after operation (Z=-0.125, P=0.901), but wound healing score of test group was significantly higher than that of control group (Z=-2.943, P=0.003). Wound healing was class A in 98 hips and class B in 2 hips in test group, and was class A in 92 hips and class B in 8 hips in control group, and difference was statistically significant (χ2=3.789, P=0.048). The incision satisfaction of test group was significantly higher than that of control group (Z=-2.626, P=0.009). ConclusionCompared with traditional method, histoacryl topical skin adhesive has decreased wound complication rate, and it is an easy and safe method with high satisfaction.
