Li Xiaoxin, female, was born in June 1950. She is a doctoral tutor and an ophthalmologist. She is the chairman of the Ophthalmological Society of Chinese Medical Association (2007~2010), the head of the Ocular Fundus Diseases Branch of Ophthalmological Society of Chinese Medical Association (2004~2014), the president of the Ophthalmologists Branch of Chinese Medical Doctors Association (2012~2016) and the president of the Ophthalmology Branch of Chinese Women Doctors Association. She is a member of the International Academy of Ophthalmology, former president of the Asia-Pacific Society of Vitreore-Retina, and vice-president of the European and American Alumni Association.

Professor Li Xiaoxin returned to China after receiving her Ph.D. in the Eye Hospital of ESSEN University in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1986. In 1991, she obtained the post-doctoral research work of the Humboldt Scholarship in Germany. The main research and medical direction is vitreoretinopathy, especially complex retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and ocular trauma. She has long been committed to the research and treatment of retinal vitreous surgery and ocular fundus diseases. She is one of the pioneers of modern vitreous surgery in China. At the 22nd Asian and Pacific Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, Professor Li Xiaoxin won The 2007 Golden Eye Award for Best Ophthalmology Teacher by the International Eye Council. At the 22nd National Ophthalmology Congress of the Chinese Medical Association in 2017, Professor Li Xiaoxin was awarded the Golden Key Award, the highest award for ophthalmology research at the China-US Ophthalmology Society, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the research of ophthalmology in China.

Professor Li Xiaoxin is the chief scientist of the 973 project. She has presided over more than ten research projects such as the 11th Five-Year, 12th Five-Year, 863, and National Natural Science Foundation of the Ministry of Science and Technology. In recent years, the first author or responsible author has published 122 papers in SCI, including 5 articles in the US Ophthalmology as the first author and responsible author, and 203 domestic core journals, among which 11 technical invention patents and two software copyright of the invention. She has twice won the first prize of the Ministry of Education for Science and Technology Progress, three times the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, the Soong Ching Ling Pediatric Medicine Award, the Wuzhou Women's Science and Technology Award, the Asia Pacific Ophthalmology Society Tano Awards Lecture Award, Professor Zhao Dongsheng's Title Lecture Award and China Ophthalmology Lifetime Achievement Award.

Professor Li Xiaoxin led the research team to participate in the formulation of the Health Planning Committee's Guide to Screening for Oxygen Norms and Retinopathy of Premature Infants, the Pathology of Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration in China, and the Guidelines for Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy in China. Participated in the editorial of "Retinal Vitreous Surgery", "Modern Ophthalmology Handbook", "Retinal Vascular Disease" and other authoritative guidance academic monographs of ophthalmologists and researchers. She has been invited to conduct academic reports in the United States, Japan and European countries, and has improved the academic status of Chinese ophthalmology in the international arena.
