  • Correlation Between Plasma D-Dimer Level and Vascular Invasion as well as the Pittsburgh Modified TNM Staging in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma for Orthotopic Liver Transplantation

【Abstract】Objective To evaluate the prognostic value of plasma D-dimer level in cancer thrombosis and vascular invasion assessment and to analyze the correlation between plasma D-dimer level and the Pittsburgh modified TNM staging in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma for orthotopic liver transplantation. MethodsThe plasma D-dimer level was quantitated using Golden method in 120 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma for orthotopic liver transplantation. Cancer thrombosis in trunk vein and microvascular invasion was diagnosed by pathology. The relationship between plasma D-dimer level in different Child-pugh’s classification patients and vascular invasion as well as the Pittsburgh modified TNM staging was analyzed with χ2 test, factorial analysis of variance and q test by microsoft SPSS 9.0.ResultsIn ChildPugh’s A, B and C patients, the difference of plasma D-dimer level between patients with trunk vein cancer thrombosis and patients without vascular invasion was significant (P<0.05). The differences of plasma D-dimer level between patients with microvascular invasion and patients without vascular invasion were significant (P<0.01) in Child-Pugh’s B and C patients but was insignificant in Child-Pugh’s A patients (Pgt;0.05). The differences of plasma D-dimer level between patients with the Pittsburgh modified TNM Ⅰand Ⅱ tumor and patients with TNM Ⅲ tumor, and between patients with the Pittsburgh modified TNM Ⅰand Ⅱ tumor and patients with TNM Ⅳ tumor were significant (P<0.05), but the differences of plasma D-dimer level between patients with the Pittsburgh modified TNM Ⅲ tumor and patients with TNM Ⅳ tumor were insignificant (Pgt;0.05).ConclusionPlasma D-dimer level, which increasing as upgrade of the Pittsburgh TNM staging, is useful in the vascular invasion and cancer thrombosis assessment in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma for liver transplantation, and the correlation was more significant as progression of vascular invasion and upgrade of Child-pugh’s classification.

  • Progress on the design and optimization of antimicrobial peptides

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are a class of peptides widely existing in nature with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is considered as a new alternative to traditional antibiotics because of its unique mechanism of antimicrobial activity. The development and application of natural AMPs are limited due to their drawbacks such as low antimicrobial activity and unstable metabolism. Therefore, the design and optimization of derived peptides based on natural antimicrobial peptides have become recent research hotspots. In this paper, we focus on ribosomal AMPs and summarize the design and optimization strategies of some related derived peptides, which include reasonable primary structure modification, cyclization strategy and computer-aided strategy. We expect to provide ideas for the design and optimization of antimicrobial peptides and the development of anti-infective drugs through analysis and summary in this paper.

  • A plane-based hand-eye calibration method for surgical robots

In order to calibrate the hand-eye transformation of the surgical robot and laser range finder (LRF), a calibration algorithm based on a planar template was designed. A mathematical model of the planar template had been given and the approach to address the equations had been derived. Aiming at the problems of the measurement error in a practical system, we proposed a new algorithm for selecting coplanar data. This algorithm can effectively eliminate considerable measurement error data to improve the calibration accuracy. Furthermore, three orthogonal planes were used to improve the calibration accuracy, in which a nonlinear optimization for hand-eye calibration was used. With the purpose of verifying the calibration precision, we used the LRF to measure some fixed points in different directions and a cuboid’s surfaces. Experimental results indicated that the precision of a single planar template method was (1.37±0.24) mm, and that of the three orthogonal planes method was (0.37±0.05) mm. Moreover, the mean FRE of three-dimensional (3D) points was 0.24 mm and mean TRE was 0.26 mm. The maximum angle measurement error was 0.4 degree. Experimental results show that the method presented in this paper is effective with high accuracy and can meet the requirements of surgical robot precise location.

  • Application of remote home respiratory rehabilitation for pneumoconiosis

Pneumoconiosis is an interstitial lung disease with pulmonary fibrosis as the main pathological change. Patients with pneumoconiosis can increase immunity, delay disease progression, reduce symptoms, and improve lung function through respiratory rehabilitation. With the development of the domestic medical stratification, grading, and referral system between various specialties and the promotion of “internet +” model, remote home respiratory rehabilitation has become an inevitable trend in the full-cycle management of chronic respiratory diseases. By searching Chinese and English literatures, this article summarizes the safety, efficacy and research progress of remote home respiratory rehabilitation for pneumoconiosis. The purpose is to provide ideas for patients with pneumoconiosis to receive home-based remote rehabilitation management.
