  • The epidemiological study of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema in a community-based lung cancer screening program

Objective To study the prevalence of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) in a community-based lung cancer screening program in Shanghai. Methods From June 2018 to July 2019, eligible participants who were assessed through a high-risk lung cancer questionnaire in Xuhui, Shanghai underwent low-dose computed tomography of the lungs. The suspected CPFE patients were invited to provide medical history and blood for analysis, and received high-resolution CT (HRCT) scanning for confirmation. Results Of the 15 cases of suspected CPFE from a total of 4478 participants in which 1704 males and 2774 females, 4 declined further examination and 11 received further examine. Eight subjects were confirmed as CPFE, and all were male, of whom two were ex-smokers and six were active smokers. These CPFE patients had cough, chest tightness and dyspnea. There were 3 cases of centrilobular emphysema, 2 cases of paraseptal emphysema, 1 case of panlobular emphysema and 2 cases of mixed emphysema. There were 2 cases of usual interstitial pneumonia, 3 cases of non-specific interstitial pneumonia, 2 cases of airspace enlargement with fibrosis and 1 case of unclassifiable smoking-related interstitial fibrosis. The KBILD scores were 61.7±7.5 and mMRC scores were 1.5±0.8. Serum Krebs von den Lungen-6 concentration was (380.75±212.05)U/mL. Lung function test showed normal or mild restrictive ventilatory function, and mild-moderate impairment in diffusion capacity. Conclusions The prevalence of CPFE is 1.79‰ in a community-based lung cancer screening population, and is 4.69‰ in male lung cancer screening population.

The incidence of single and proliferative DR was 22.29% and 4.30%, respectively. Duration of DM was the independent risk factor of DR, while long duration of DM, accompanied with peripheral neuropathy and body mass index was the in-order independent factor of proliferative DR. Conclusions The incidence of DR is high in residents with DM. Monitoring DR progress in DM residents with risk factors is recommended. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis, 2006, 22: 31-34)

ResultsA total of 27 studies were included. The overall prevalence rate of cognitive impairment in sarcopenia was 36.1% (95%CI 29.4% to 42.8%). Subgroup analysis showed that the prevalence in Europe was higher than that in other areas. The prevalence of nursing home residents was highest. ConclusionCurrent evidence shows that the prevalence of cognitive impairment in patients with sarcopenia is high. Due to the limited quality and quantity of the included studies, more high quality studies are needed to verify the above conclusion.

  • Current epidemiology and trend of hypertension in Chinese adult

Hypertension and its associated cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and ischemic heart disease result in a high burden of disease and health losses, making it the most burdensome disease in the world and one of the important public health issues in China. Currently Chinese scholars have carried out a large number of studies on the prevalence of hypertension, including regional and national prevalence studies. However, long-term follow-up studies on incidence of hypertension are relatively few and mostly limited to specific ages and regions. This paper summarizes the prevalence, incidence and epidemiological trend of hypertension in Chinese adults. The hypertension prevalence increased from 5.1% in 1959 to 27.5% in 2018, and presents an overall trend of high in the north and low in the south. The hypertension incidence is at a high level (the cumulative incidence was 33.4% after 22 years-follow-up), but there are few researches on the trend of hypertension incidence in huge region.

  • Analysis on Needs, Demands and Utilization of Health Services of Urban and Rural Residents in Chongqing

Objective To understand the status of needs, demands and utilization of health services of urban and rural residents in Chongqing, so as to provide references for the evaluation of health services status and policy making and regulating. Methods The data from family health questionnaire of health service survey in Western China in 2008 were descriptively analyzed. Results The two-week prevalence rate was 216.9‰ and the two-week hospital visit rate was 211.5‰. The sick people who did not seek medical care accounted for 56.2% among the sick population. The chronic disease prevalence rate was 226.4‰. The annual hospitalization rate was 77.1‰. Conclusion During the past five-year from 2003 to 2008, the needs of health services in Chongqing have had no big change, but the chronic disease prevalence rate has been in uptrend, and the utilization has obviously increased. And the economic factor is still the major cause for impeding residents to seek medical care. So it’s necessary to strengthen the construction of primary health care institutions, to improve the level of health insurance system, and to decrease the disparity in urban and rural areas.
