Objective To evaluate the legitimate of regional artery infusion chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric carcinoma. MethodsThe pharmacokinetics of 5-Fu after different route of administration was studied. Results High concentration of 5-Fu found in portal vein via left-gastric intra-artetial administration were 4-40 folds higher than the group via intravenous administration. The time of high concentrations of 5-Fu via left-gastric intra-arterial administration maintained significantly longer than by intravenous administraion. The concentration of 5-Fu in tumor tissues and paratumorous lymph tissues by intra-arterial administration were 19 times and 23 times of the group by intravenous administration. Conclusion Regional arterial infusion chemotherapy can significantly increase the concentration of chemotherapeutic drugs in the tumorous region.
Objective To investigate the effect of cholecystectomy on the induction of large intestine cancer and its mechanism. Methods After cholecystectomy, the large intestine neoplasm in mice was induced with dimethylhydrazine(DMH).The histogenesis and growth pattern of large intestine cancer were observed. The Sphase fraction (SPF) of epithelium cells in large intestine mucosa was determined using flow cytometry. Before and after operation, the feces of mice were collected to determine the cholic acid (CA), chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), deoxycholic acid (DCA) and lithocholic acid (LCA) concentration by highperformance liquid chromatography. Results The average number of large intestine neoplasms per mouse, percentage of large intestine adenomas in examined mice and SPF of experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group (P<0.05). The fecal LCA concentration in postcholecystectomy was significantly higher than that in precholecystectomy and in sham operation group (P=0.00). Conclusion The large intestine neoplasm of mice induced by DMH is increased and the proliferation of epithelium cell in large intestine mucosa is increased after cholecystectomy. This suggests that cholecystectomy has promoting effect on induction of large intestine neoplasm in mice. The gut may deal with the increased secondary bile acid(LCA) concentration postcholecystectomy.
Objective To observe the turbulence of regional intra-artery implantation chemotherapy and peripheral venous chemotherapy on immunologic function of patients. Methods Two weeks after radical operation of gastric carcinoma, chemotherapy was performed. Eighty-three patients were divided into two groups, one (42 patients) received peripheral venous chemotherapy (PVC) and the other (41 patients) received regional intra-artery implantation pump chemotherapy (RAIPC). The serum T-lymphocyte subsets and immunoglobulin level before and 1-4 days after the chemotherapy were measured. Results After PVC, proportion of CD3 and CD4, CD4/CD8 and IgG, IgA, IgM concentration in PVC group were significantly decreased compared with those before PVC (P<0.05, P<0.01), and it is the same when compared with postRAIPC patients except for CD4 and IgM (P<0.05). In RAIPC group, there were no significant changes in proportion of CD3, CD4 and CD8, CD4/CD8 and IgG, IgA concentration between pre- and post-RAIPC patients. Conclusion After radical operation of gastric carcinoma, RAIPC affects the immunologic function more moderate than PVC.
